Restorative Dentistry

Restorative Dentistry

Even with the best oral hygiene, you may need restorative dentistry.  Restorative dentistry can be done for several reasons:

  • To repair broken or decayed teeth
  • To prevent tooth loss
  • To replace old failing restorations

Restorative Dentistry includes:

Fillings

We use a composite material for our filling allowing us to match the color to the color of your teeth.  The composite filling material actually bonds to the tooth structure helping it to prevent fracturing.

Crowns

A crown, also known as a cap, completely covers a tooth.  It is used when other restorations cannot be used.  Reasons include:

  • Broken or fractured teeth
  • A large amount of decay present on a tooth
  • Protect a weak tooth from fracture
  • Fractured amalgam fillings
  • Covering a tooth after a Root Canal had been completed
  • Restore a Dental Implant

Bridges

A dental bridge is used to replace missing teeth.  A bridge is a fixed restoration composed of a series of crowns, which are attached to the teeth adjacent to the missing tooth/teeth.

Root Canals

A root canal is performed when the nerve of the tooth is injured, infected or decay has reached it.  In order to prevent the loss of the tooth the pulp of the nerve, any infection, or decay are removed and a special medicated material is used to fill the space of the nerve pulp.  After a root canal, a crown is recommended to protect the tooth.
